An easy-to-make board that displays your jewelry while storing it.

I don’t wear jewelry much, but I still own a bunch. Because I don’t wear it all that often, I decided to store it in a way that would let me see it, or at least most of it. I made a board to hang my necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings on.

I started with a simple framed corkboard. Not liking the plain brown of the cork, I used acrylic paints to make a cloudy sky pattern of white and blue. Then I added a small piece of wire mesh to hang my earrings on, and used transparent pushpins, which are easy to rearrange, to hang the larger pieces from.

The result is something I see every day: a display of my jewelry that lets me enjoy what I have even when I’m not wearing it. And having the pieces out in the open makes it more likely that I’ll wear them. If they were all in a drawer or box, it would be easy to forget all about them.

How do you store your jewelry? Do you have storage that displays it?

  1. I use two short IKEA Grundtal rails with S-hooks to hang my necklaces by a full length mirror. I don’t wear bracelets or rings other than my wedding ring.

    1. Thanks so much. My sister Cleo Dunsmore Buchanan is a glass artist and she made a bunch of the pieces that you see.
