November is almost here, and that means it’s time for National Novel Writing Month. This year will be my 13th NaNoWriMo, my 13th try to write 50,000 words in 30 days. Since thirteen is actually a lucky number for me, I am trying to come up with something fun to write, and drawing a blank. (Note: I have a file with over 50 story ideas in it. I’m just not ready to pick one!)

Instead of giving up, I’m telling myself I will have an idea when the time is right (probably on Halloween). Meanwhile, I am repeating this quote to help myself stay calm:

It’s kind of fun to do the impossible. — Walt Disney

Who else will be taking the NaNoWriMo challenge this year? I could use some writing buddies…

    1. Give it time. I usually don’t really get on fire for an idea until the last minute, and if I try to get ready too early, doubt kicks in and my story is dead before November starts. My NaNoWrimo name is dappled_pony, if you are looking for writing buddies for November.

      1. Ahhh, yes, I actually changed topics last year IN November. I’m super nervous, because the day I changed is also the day I get done with a 12-day multi-city trip this year. I will send you a buddy request!

      2. Excellent! I travel most Novembers (this year I’ll be on vacation for half the month) but still write while on the road. I’ve never changed ideas in November, but I have changed at the end of Oct.

    1. Thanks. I’ve only had one NaNoWriMo that felt like a slog; most of the time it’s wild and crazy creative fun. I’ve had a challenging year and am worn out, so it’s hard to get excited about anything right now, but I am still looking forward to November.

      1. Thanks. NaNoWriMo has saved my creative hash in the past, so I have faith it can help me to feel better about things.
